Workshop Resources

Host a User-Developed Workshop
This page contains resources to assist in the preparation of a Geometer's Sketchpad workshop at Aptos High School. Although wording and steps are specific to the procedures at Aptos High School, most generalize to other schools.

Motivation
Motivating teachers to attend is your first task in organizing the workshop. Consider creating a short video depicting students currently attending the school who are highly engaged in a Geometer's Sketchpad activity. Portray students completing individual and cooperative activities to support varied instructional events.

Invite teachers to attend the workshop via email. Attach a hyperlink to the video on the TeacherTube website. The email should also include enthusiastic quotations from students who feel that Geometer's Sketchpad helped them to understand or demonstrate learning in a way that is personally meaningful.Encourage teachers to post and respond to comments about the video prior to the training session to begin a dialog about the software.

Workshop Content
Training objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment items should take approximately three hours to complete. Your schedule will depend on the type of modifications you make to the outline.
